Highlights from THAG’s 17th Season of Guyana Restaurant Week

THAG successfully completed its 17th season of Guyana Restaurant Week (GRW), a celebration of Guyana's diverse and rich food culture.

This year's event, which ran from June 21 -30, 2024, saw 23 participating restaurants and an expansion beyond Region 4 to include Regions 2 (Essequibo Coast), 3 (Leonora), 6 (New Amsterdam, Berbice),and 7 (Bartica), providing a wider platform for showcasing local culinary talents.

The list of participating restaurants included both long-standing favorites and new entrants such as Heliconia Tavern, Ambrosia Restaurant, Atlantis Cuisine, Starlight Restaurant, Froggy's Grill, D Cafe, RyRy’s Restaurant, Bia Bia TexMex Cuisine, and Nutrition Crave. This inclusion of smaller establishments like Nutrition Crave and D Cafe emphasized the event's commitment to diversity and support for local businesses.

Special partnerships - A collaboration with Pritipaul Singh Investments offered discounts on seafood options to our participants. Calyxgy (owned by Sherilla Persaud) offered organically grown microgreens to our participants. These special partnerships not only enhanced the dining experience and offers to participants but also promoted sustainable and local sourcing practices.

Innovative initiatives - In collaboration with Eldon Marks, CEO of V75 Inc., we integrated an AI agent to assist potential diners with information about the event, such as the number of participating restaurants, their locations, and the types of cuisines offered. This AI integration showcased the potential of technology in enhancing customer engagement and experience.

Media Support -  Our collaboration with UberSpecial Media and Spurcius Media provided extensive coverage of Guyana Restaurant Week. They captured vibrant shots of restaurant dishes and engaging videos that spotlighted the talented chefs and the creative minds behind each establishment.

Food blogger Surida Nagreadi (Suri the Foodie) collaborated with the GRW team to highlight several participating restaurants. Her expertise and passion for food significantly enhanced the visibility of our culinary gems, attracting food enthusiasts and promoting Guyana's vibrant culinary scene.

The success of this year's GRW was marked by significant expansion, fruitful collaborations, and innovative initiatives, reflecting the dynamic and evolving food culture of Guyana.
