Born in Georgetown, Guyana and raised in New York City, Chef Stephen Kanhai developed a deep curiosity and passion for food from an early age. Growing up in a large, food-loving family where great taste was the only rule, his appreciation for bold flavours and quality cooking began long before he stepped into professional kitchens.

Classically trained in culinary technique with a modern approach, Chef Kanhai immersed himself in every aspect of the food world, from the energy of street carts to the precision of high-end kitchens.
